Albert's first wife Nancy died in November 1942, aged 20, along with their 9 month old son Victor, when the bus they were travelling in was struck by a train at Mint St crossing, Carlisle. Albert was away at war at the time.

Albert died in 1992 aged 78; his second wife Millicent (Millie) died in 2012 aged 98.
