NotesA birth registration was found for Henry Thomas Poulton; Year of Registration: 1885; Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec; District: Lambeth; County: Greater London, London, Surrey; Volume: 1d; Page: 481. Parents: Edward and Harriett Poulton.

Henry Poulton was admitted to Lambeth Union Schools on November 26, 1891, until May 21, 1900, when he was transferred to the Workhouse for 10 days until May 31, 1900, and then readmitted to Schools until he was discharged to Barnardo's Home on August 1, 1900.

His sisters, Alice, Hannah, Annie and Jane Poulton were also admitted. Hannah, Annie and Jane Poulton were sent to service. Alice seemed to have problems with her eyes and was in and out of the infirmary from April 24, 1900, until October 25, 1901. She was transferred to the MAB Ophthalmic Hospital, also known as High Wood School, on August 10, 1904.

their father Edward, had been a chimney sweep and he had died in the Infirmary. Their mother, Harriett, was in in Princes Road Workhouse.

In 1900, Henry Poulton, 12, arrived in Quebec, Canada, with 101 Barnardo boys en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He was placed with C. Neville, in Essex, Ontario, Canada.

Age 16, good home, employed at general chores, healthy, attends Methodist Church, Public School during the winter, good character. Terms-$120 on expiration of 5 years. Poulton is comfortably situated here. He is well cared for. I am advised that he attends church and school regularly and is a well behaved boy.
