In 1891 Annie SCALES, 20, single, and baby daughter Lilian May SCALES, were in Edmonton Workhouse. The 1901 Census – 4 Boundary Cottages, Ponders End, Enfield lists: George MUNNS age 45 (farm labourer), Annie MUNNS age 38, George age 18, James age 13, Lily age 11, Ada age 7, Lizzie age 4 and Ellen age 1. [George had been previously married.]
1910 July 15: Medical performed 4 Torres Street Hackney on children going to the Annie MacPherson House of Industry, 29 Bethnall Green East, including Elizabeth, Ellen and Charles Scales.
1910 July 22: Ship “Virginian” left Liverpool – list of immigrant children from the Annie MacPherson House of Industry, 29 Bethnall Green East going to 51 Avon Street, Stratford, Ontario includes Elizabeth, Ellen and Charles Scales.
1910 July 29: Ship “Virginian” arrives Quebec, Canada.
Oddly, Annie still lists all her children in the 1911 Census:

Charles gives his age as 22, living in Holstein, Ontario – birth place: Enfield, England – arrived at Canada on the “Virginian” in 1913 – he is accompanied by his brother Harry. Harry gives his age as 20, living in Durham, Ontario - birth place: Middlesex, England – arrived at Quebec, Canada on the “Empress of Britain” in July 1914 – he is accompanied by his brother Charles.
1935 June 4
Charles Scales, age 28 b. England, marries Fanny Hargraves in Grey County, Ontario - certificate says Charles is son of George Scales and Elizabeth Munns.
His wife Fanny Marjerie Hargreave (1915-1998, daughter of James Frederick & Mary Esther) is memorialised with him at Durham Cemetery, Bentinck, Grey, Ontario. A likely son is at the same site (Leonard Charles 1940-2014).
