On September 28, 1893, James Carlisle Alexander, 45, mercantile clerk, died at 27 Peel Street, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland of broncho-pneumonia. After his death, the five youngest children (Annie born 1883, Agnes born 1885, Janet born 1886, Beatrice born 1889 and Thomas George born 1891) were sent to Quarrier Village Orphanage at Bridge Of Weir.

In 1897, Thomas Alexander, 5 (along with sister, Beatrice Alexander, 8), arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 118 Quarrier children en route to Brockville, Ontario, Canada.

On February 22, 1915, at Ottawa, Carleton, Ontario, Canada, Thomas George Alexander, 19, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided at 22 Turner Street, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in Glasgow, Scotland; that his next of kin was his sister, Mrs. Hiram Pollock [Agnes], who resided at 22 Turner Street, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; that his date of birth was December 22, 1891; that he was a farmer; and that he was not married. He was described ast 5 foot 5-1/2 inches in height; ruddy complexion; hazel eyes; auburn hair. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith. He had a 2-1/2 inch scar on top of his head.

On June 19, 1915, at Ottawa, Carleton, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Thomas George Alexander, 22, farmer, born in Scotland to James Alexander and Janet Barrie; and Gean Alexander, 22, born in Coathidge, Scotland, to Andrew Alexander and Susan MacAllister.

On September 29, 1916, at Ottawa, Carleton, Ontario, Canada, Thomas George Alexander, 23, re-enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces (Service Number 107871; 5th Pioneer Battalion, CEF). He declared that he resided at 88 Frank Street, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in Glasgow, Scotland; that his next of kin was his wife, Jane Alexander, who resided at 88 Frnk Street, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; that his date of birth was December 22, 1892; that he was a farmer; and that he had served previously in a military force for 18 month in the 2nd Battalion C; and had seen active service for 4 years in the 5th, DG. He was described as 5 foot 6 inches in height; medicum complexion; brown eyes; brown hair. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith. He had a scar on his right leg and right arm.

On May 14, 1917, at Ottawa, Carleton, Ontario, Canada, Thomas George Alexander, 25, re-enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided at 137 Waverly Street, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in Glascow, Scotland; that his next of kin was his wife, Mrs. J. A. Alexander, who resided at 137 Waverly Street, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; that his date of birth was December 22, 1892; that he was a farmer; that he had previously served in teh 12th Batt. CEF; and that he had been discharged previously from service due to a gunshot would. He was described as 5 foot 6 inches in height; medium complexion; brown eyes; brown hair. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith. As a result of the wound of the right arm received in France, he lost a portion of the humourous, but the functional result of his arm was good.

On July 10, 1919, at Ottawa, Carleton, Ontario, Canada, Thomas George Alexander, 26, re-enlisted in teh Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided at 21 McLaren Street, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in Glasgow, Scotland; that his next of kin was his wife, Jane Alexander, who resided at 21 McLaren Street, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; that his date of birth was December 22, 1892; that he was a farmer; and that he had previously served in teh 38th Battalion CEF from February 22, 1915 to November 4, 1916. He had previously been discharged due to a gun shot wound. He was described as 5 foot 6 inches in height; fresh complexion; brown hair; brown eyes. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith.
