His mother was reported to be a widow and a good Baptist. George was also reported to have worked for Israel Casselman, whose farm was close to Stratford.

George Dodd married Catherine Helen Haines, daughter of James Haines and Mary J. Englehart, in Ontario, Canada, about 1890.

In 1891, George Dodd, 23, labourer, is shown residing at the home of J. E. Whittaker, 68, patent medicine maker, in Ingersoll, Oxford South, Ontario, Canada, along with his wife, Catherine Dodd, 21, and newborn son, Joseph Dodd.

George Dodd, machinist, died on September 4, 1921, at the age of 53, of pneumonia complicated by lateral sclerosis. He was buried in a cemetery in Ingersoll Rural, Ontario, Canada. His oldest son, Joseph Henry Dodd died earlier that year (April 4, 1921) of enteritis.
