Thomas Whitbread died January 31, 1895, at 57 years of age. He was then residing at 7 Hencroft Street Slough, England. He had been a private in the Grenadier Guards and acted as a soldier valet to Prince Edward of Sax-Weimar.
Soon afterwards, Frances Whitbread developed breast cancer and died. No help was available for her children and they were placed with Barnardo Homes.

They both settled in Uxbridge, Ontario. His other siblings, Thomas William, born 1876; Anthony Walter Edwin, born 1878; Isaac, born 1881; Henry 1883; and his sister, Rose.

George stated that he resided in Valentyne, Ontario, Canada; that he was a laborer; and that his parents names were Thomas Whitbread and Francis Grove. Mabel stated that she was 18; that she was a laborer; and that her parents names were Joseph Booker and Helen Littlefield.
