NotesIn 1922, John Henry Bentley, 14 (with his brother, James, 12), arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 48 Roman Catholic children en route to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

To his family and friends John Henry was known as Jack. John Henry and his brother, James, were sent to Canada because their mother couldn't afford to feed them.

John Henry worked on a farm and eventually settled in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. He married Edith Lyle. They raised four children in Bowmanville.

Both sons are dead and only the two sisters remain.

John Henry Bentley is buried in the Bowmanville cemetery. His wife still lives in Bowmanville and will be celebrating her 90th. birthday on April 14, 2008.
