Notesjames henry was sent to Canada with his brother Sydney john in 1893. I have found james on the 1901 Toronto census working as a domestic/cook. barnardos have told me that james was working at the hotel Rudolf in atlantic city new jersey USA in 1903.i have found a james henry McLaughlin
with nearly the same birth date, living in new jersey in 1920 and married to a Jessie A Laird.
I can trace this man through to his death in new jersey in 1974 but cannot say 100% that he is my
ancestor although I think he almost certainly is. I have found no children for this man.
barnardos have no record of my ancestor changing the way he spelt his surname either.

barnardos have told me that james did return to England on 26 January 1898 and returned to
Canada with the barnardos party on 14 july 1898.and on 20 april 1901 he leaves Canada to go to
new York but by august 1903 he is in atlantic city,new jersey as a cook but by November 1903 he is no longer there.
