NotesA birth record was found for Lawrence Edmund Newbold: Year of Registration: 1896; Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep; District: Coventry; County: Warwickshire, West Midlands; Volume: 6d; Page: 531.

In 1901, Lawrence, aged 4, is living at 43 Ascot Road in Northfield, Worcestershire, England, with Lawrence Newbold, 26, a packer case maker; Alice (Randall) Newbold, 25; Arthur Newbold, 3; Ann Newbold, 2; and Ada Newbold, 4 weeks. (Source: 1901 Census of England and Wales; Class: RG13; Piece: 2808; Folio: 162; Page: 44.)

The Corsican seems to have been used simultaneously for several agencies sending groups of children which landed on May 26, 1911. The notation on Lawrence in the LAC immigration index states he was with a group of Catholic Children (however, info on Tweetybird site indicates he came from Father Ross Home).

In 1911, Lawrence is shown as a hired boy for John Geary and family in Ennismore, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

On July 11, 1915, Lawrence Edmund Newbold joined the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was a farmer, and he was not married, that he was born in Coventry, England, and that his next of kin was his sister, Miss Annie Newbold, who was residing in St. Josephs Convent in Wolverhampton, England.

Lawrence Edmund Newbold became an automobile mechanic, but died at St. Josephs Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, on November 11, 1927. He died of empyema following pneumonia 10 days after an operation to repair a gastic ulcer. He is buried at St. Andrews Cemetery in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada.
