In 1870, Caroline Newbold, 11, arrived in Quebec, Canada with a party of 143 young people, mostly girls with Maria Rye, en route to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.
Caroline Newbold died of typhoid fever on August 18, 1873 at the age of 14 years. Caroline is buried in the Rye Plot at St Mark's Anglican Church in St. Marks Anglican Church Cemetery, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.
Richard Taylor of Niagara-Lake has Caroline's trunk which he found at a garage sale many years back. He is not related to the Newbold sisters and does not have a Home Child, but because of this became a Rye expert and gives talks and slide shows upon request. He was hoping to find a Newbold relative who would like to have this trunk.
