In 1896, Julia Sheriff, 13 (along with sisters, Ellen Sheriff, 8, and Eliza Sheriff, 11) arrived at Quebec, Canada, with a group of 254 Barnardo children accompanied by Mr. Owen, en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

In Barnardo's Ups & Downs, April 1, 1900, Volume V, No. 3, under OUR GIRLS, Hazel Brae Notes (pg 75 - 88):
