In 1896, Eliza Sheriff, 11 (along with sisters, Ellen Sheriff, 8, and Julia Sheriff, 13) arrived at Quebec, Canada, with a group of 254 Barnardo children accompanied by Mr. Owen, en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
In Barnardo's Ups & Downs, April 1, 1900, Volume V, No. 3, under OUR GIRLS, Hazel Brae Notes (pg 75 - 88):
"Julie Sheriff eldest of 3 sisters, came 1896, visited Lizzie & Nellie..."
On September 2, 1913, at Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Elizabeth Sheriff, 23, born in Devon, England, to Henry Sheriff and Julia Morgan; and James McNaught, 28, harness maker, born Scotland, to James McNaught and Janet Mason.
On June 9, 1927, at the age of 38, Elizabeth Sheriff McNaught died of lobar pneumonia and myocardial failure and disease at Toronto General Hospital. Her husband, James McNaught was the informant, who showed his address as being 82 Frater Avenue, Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada. Elizabeth was buried at St. Johns Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
