He was described as 5 foot 4 inches in height; fair complexion; brown eyes; and brown hair. He was a member of the Methodist faith.

On February 24, 1920, Percy Thring, 23, entered the United States through Detroit, Michigan. He declared he was a conductor; that his closest relation in Canada was his brother, George Thring, who resided at Box 109, Tilsonburg, Ontario, Canada; that his final destination was Detroit, Michigan; that he had previously visited the United States 2 weeks prior; that he had a room at 258 Seacott Drive, Detroit, Michigan; that he intended to remain permanently; and that he had been born in Tilsonburg, Ontario, Canada.
