Notes In 1908, George Thring, 14, arrived in Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 81 children accompanied by Mr. Merry en route to Stratford, Ontario, Canada. (George's other siblings immigrated as follows: Edith Thring, Tunsian, 1909; Percy Thring, Tunsian, 1909; and Lilian Thring, Tunsian, 1905)
On January 4, 1916, George Leonard Thring enlisted in the Candian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided in Tillsonburg, Ontario, Canada; that his next of kin was his sister, Mrs. Neil McKinnon (this was his sister Lilian), who resided in Fillmore, Saskatchewan, Canada; that his date of birth was October 12, 1895; that he was a shoe cutter; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 3-3/4 inches in height; fair complexion; hazel eyes; and dark brown hair. He was a member of the Methodist faith.
On April 8, 1919, in Tillsonburg, Oxford, Canada, a marriage was registered between George Leonard Thring, 26, shoe cutter, born in England, son of George Thring and Ada Sarah Clark; and Eva Reynolds, 20, born in Tillsonburg, Ontario, Canada, daughter of Michel Reynolds and Lucinda Vincent.
