NotesA birth registration was found for James John Willis (twin to Sophia Rebecca Willis): Year of Registration: 1879; Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep; District: Kensington; County: Greater London, London, Middlesex; Volume: 1a; Page: 127. (Parents: Thomas Willis and Jane Bryant, married 1861, Lewisham, London, England.)

In 1891, James G. Willis, 13, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 120 Barnardo boys from London, England, accompanied by Mr. Owen en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

In Ups and Downs, Volume 1V., October 1, 1898, No. 1, it was reported:

"James John Willis-looking strong and well-employed on a farm near Ospringe."

On August 17, 1903, at Wellington, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between James J. Willis, 25, farmer, born in England to Thomas Willis and Mary Jane Collins; and another home child, Rosa A. Dunnings, 23, born in England to John Dunnings (mother's name not noted).

On January 10, 1916, James John Willis, 35, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided in Madoc, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in London, England; that his next of kin was his wife, Roseanna Willis, who resided at Madoc, Ontario, Canada; that he was born July 14, 1879; and that he was a labourer. He was described as 5 foot 4-3/4 inches in height; fair complexion; grey eyes; light brown hair. He was a member of the Methodist faith.

James and Rose Willis had seven children: Nellie May Willis (1905-1906); Cecil Herbert Willis; John James Willis (1906-1907); James Oliver Willis; Edward Willis; Bert Willis; and Janie Elizabeth Willis.

James John Willis died on August 19, 1970, at the age of 91, at Campbellford, Ontario, Canada. Rosina Dunings Willis died on August 22, 1965, at the age of 88, in Menie, Ontario, Canada.
