NotesFrancis came to Canada as a very young boy along with two older brothers. Those brothers were placed near each other in Delaware, Ontario with farmers who were related to each other. Francis was placed far away in Muskoka.

From the Barnardos files for the brothers it seems that they did not have contact with Francis, although they did try with letters both directly to Francis and to Barnardos. There is no explanation for the lack of reply; because I am descended from a brother I do not have access to the file for Francis himself.

Francis did marry (Gertrude Eleanor Simmonds) and they raised a family (4 sons) in the Muskoka district.
