NotesIn 1887, George Harding, 15, arrived at Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, in a group of 10 boys from Barton Regis, Bristol, England.

"From the Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.

Report of Mr. Samuel Gardner, Government Immigration Agent at St. John, New Brunswick.

George Harvey (not Harding), aged 15. From parish of St. Pancras. Placed with J. J. Hunt, Annagance, King's County.?Has a good home. Mr. Hunt reports him sulky and stubborn, but a fair average boy. Is content to keep him in hopes he will improve; when in good temper a very willing worker, is in good health, he tells me he likes his place very much; is restless, however. He has a letter from the Superintendent of the workhouse, to whom he wrote giving a good account of his home and how well pleased he is, which letter the Superintendent read to the whole school, and the boys one and all expressed a wish to be sent out there."
