NotesIn 1887, Arthur Lindsay, 12, arrived at Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, in a group of 10 boys from Barton Regis, Bristol, England.

"From the Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.

Report of Mr. Samuel Gardner, Government Immigration Agent at St. John, New Brunswick.

Arthur Lovesay, aged 12. From parish of St. Pancras. Still with H. H. Belyea, Wickham, St. John River, Queen's County. ? Is now improving in health, was weak nevertheless, growing, and, for the past four months, giving great satisfaction. Mrs. Belyea nursed him like a mother from what he told me; he likes his place very much, and should, for he has a splendid one. I asked him if he would like to go back again, "No, sir," and very emphatic. Why? Because my treatment here is so much better; these people have no children, hence, &c."
