NotesIn 1887, James Green, 13, arrived at Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, in a group of 10 boys from Barton Regis, Bristol, England.

"From the Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.

Report of Mr. Samuel Gardner, Government Immigration Agent at St. John, New Brunswick.

James Green, aged 13. From parish of St. Pancras. Placed with Mrs. McMonagle Burton, Sundury County, P.O. address, Oromocto, 13 miles below Fredericton.?The lad likes his home very much. Mrs. Mc. has a son and daughter living with her, young man and woman, they are much attached to the lad because of his tale, being put on the street by his father; has a sister, does not know where she is; they therefore pity him and put up with his defects, he too gets the sulks and in this mood won't obey, positively says " I won't"; this over, he does' very well. Being friendless, they put up with him; were the child their own they would correct him. He too, has a good Christian home."
