Parents: Harry Toone Townsend and Florence Annie King, married 1900, Warwick, Warwickshire, England.

Edith Ellen Mary Townsend was baptized on January 21, 1900, at New Milverton, Warwickshire, England.

A death registration was found for Florence Annie Townsend: Year of Registration: 1908; Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar; Age at Death: 36; District: Birmingham (1837-1924); County: Warwickshire; Volume: 6d; Page: 162. Family stories say that the only sons born to the family already consisting of six daughters, were twins, who died at childbirth, along with their Mother and they were buried in the coffin with her, one in each arm.

In 1910, Edith E M Townsend, 10 (along with sisters, Marguerite M. Townsend, 9; and Teresa Townsend, 9), arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 154 Middlemore children.
