Notes[POSSIBLE PARENTAL MATCH:] Marriages Dec 1888; Daventry, Northamptonshire; Volume: 3b; Page: 237; MALTBY Elizabeth / TOWNSEND Thomas.

In 1901, Ada Townsend, 12, is shown residing at 50 Coppice Street, Tipton, Staffordshire, England. Other family members included: Ann N. Townsend, 2; Elizabeth Townsend, 39, widow, charwoman; George Townsend, 14, fitter engine; Harry Townsend, 9; and Selina Townsend, 5. (Source: 1901 Census of England; Class: RG13; Piece: 2735; Folio: 17; Page: 25.)

Thomas died about 1901 and Elisabeth remarried about 1902 to a market porter in Shudehill, Manchester, Lancashire, England, and her new husband apparently did not want Ada.

In 1903, Ada Townsend, 14, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 21 children en route to Belleville, Ontario, Canada.

Ada's family never gave consent for her to leave England and were very willing to pay for her return passage and were going to consult solicitors regarding the situation; however nothing seems to have been done.

Ada was placed in Morriston, Ontario, Canada before her marriage.

On May 5, 1913, at Kincardine, Bruce, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Ada Townsend, 23, born in Manchester, England, to Thomas Townsend and Elizabeth Mavitt; and Murdoch Campbell, 45, widower, born in Ripley, Bruce, Ontario, Canada, to Malcolm Campbell and Annie McLean.

Ada and Murdoch spent the rest of their lives in Kincardine, Ontario.
