1st August, 1929

Major Wm. Dray,
Acting Resident Secretary
Salvastion Army,
1225 University St.
Montreal, Que.

Dear Sir:-

Following up my letter of 23 ultimo, in the case of Fred Mealing, mentioned in yours of the 29th June, I may say that on examining our records I find that this boy according to advice received from your Office, was trained at Hadleigh and was given the usual course there. In view of this and of the further fact that Dr. Sutherland's certificate states that the boy's present condition was present before he came to Canada, I cannot quite understand how Mealing's case was not noticed by your people at Hadleigh. I would suggest that you follow this up.

Yours very truly,
Assistant Deputy Minister"

Fred Mealing, 17, wood worker, returned to England on October 5, 1929, stating he would be residing at 14 Ambercrombie Avenue, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England, and remaining permanently in England.
