Your Profile: Look and Layout Preferences

On this page you can change some aspects of how the forum looks.
For instance, if you have a slow dial-up connection, you can change these settings, to you reduce the amount of information sent to your browser.


Time Format:
The format here will be used to show dates
throughout this forum.

Time Offset:
Number of hours to +/- to make displayed time
equal to your local time.
This is a + or - number to add or subtract to the current time showing on RootsChat. The clock at RootsChat is set to the current time in the United Kingdom
Example: RootsChat time shows 13:28, but your time is 14:28 (for example if you live on the continent). The Time Offset would be +1


[x] Show board descriptions inside boards.

[x] Show child boards on every page inside boards, not just the first.

[x] Don't show other users' avatars.
Apart from adding to the page load, some members find moving avatars can be upsetting. Using this setting, you can supress showing all avatars.

[x] Don't show other users' signatures.
Useful for reducing the amount of "signature space" on the page (More room for the topic replies !)

[x] Return to topics after posting by default.

[x] Show most recent posts at the top.

[x] Show most recent personal messages at top.
As well as personal preference, another reason for using this is to solve an occasionaly recurring problem.
When the PM box is getting full, members sometime say they cannot see the newest messages.
Using this setting seems to solve this problem.
