Your Profile: Notifications and Email

If you start a topic, or reply to any topic, and set "notify" to ON, then you will receive an e-mail notification, "a reply has been made on a topic you are interested in", anytime somebody replies to this topic, regardless of whether or not the reply was meant specifically for you.
(This may be a good idea if you plan to not visit RootsChat for a while.)
The reply itself is on the topic.

Regular visitors to RootsChat may prefer to disable all notifications,
and simply use the link Show new replies to your posts. at the top of every RootsChat page.
This will reduce the traffic to your mailbox (and improve RootsChat performance).

This profile page list all topics to which you will receive e-mail notifications, when somebody posts a
reply to the topic. You can disable the notifications on this list.

There are three ways of setting notifications:

  1. click on the [Notify] button on any topic or board. See: Board Pages and Topic Pages
  2. click on [x] notify in Attach a photograph or image (and other options)..
when you post or reply to a topic." See: Posting Topics and Replies
  3. See below: "Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic."

Here are some default options that you can set for your notifications.

[x] Receive RootsChat announcements by email.

[x] Receive reply notification only for the first unread reply.

[x] Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic.

And of course ...... [Save settings]
Don't forget to click on this button when you have finished making any changes !

Note:
  • Many members confuse e-mail notifications with entries in the list shown on clicking
the link: Show new replies to your posts. at the top of every RootsChat page.
These 'notifications' cannot be switched off.
